Make the Most of Your Burghley Horse Trials Stay with a Serviced Apartment at Ascot House Hotel

A Home from Home, Not Just a Room

When visiting the famed Burghley Horse Trials, many guests automatically book a traditional hotel room near the site and simply arrive, sleep and depart. But staying in a 2-bedroom serviced apartment at Ascot House Apartments brings a world of extra benefits. Unlike a single hotel room, the 2-bedroom option gives you two separate bedrooms, a lounge area, a fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom (or bathrooms) all to yourselves, space to stretch out, relax and live for a few days as if you were at home. At Ascot House Apartments, the 2-bedroom model is described as a spacious, modern apartment with kitchen and living area.

This layout is particularly advantageous when you’re either attending or competing at the event. Whether you’re part of a riding team, travelling with family, or simply want a bit of peace after a busy day of spectating, the space gives you separate zones. One can rest while someone else watches evening coverage in the lounge or reads quietly. The kitchen means you’re not restricted to hotel dining hours or menus; you can prepare meals, keep snacks handy, and cater for different dietary needs.

Early Arrival, Event Duration and Post-Event Relaxation

Before the Event: Arrive a day or two early to settle in. With the kitchen and lounge area you can unpack, chill out, perhaps cook a simple supper after travel, and avoid the usual hotel hustle. You aren’t confined to the bed-and-breakfast schedule, and you can ease into event mode with less stress.

During the Event: Over the days of the Burghley Horse Trials you’ll probably be up early, travelling to the course, potentially dealing with equipment, horses or gear (if competing). The apartment gives you a comfortable base: the lounge serves as a meeting point, the kitchen means you can grab breakfast at your own pace, and the separate bedrooms allow members of your party to sleep in while others are ready to go. The flexibility is a major plus compared to a hotel room where everyone is effectively lumped into the same space.

After the Event: Once the competition ends (or your spectating stint winds down) you’ll appreciate the apartment space for recovery. Instead of being limited to part of a hotel room, you can relax fully, maybe invite friends over, cook a post-event meal, and wrap up your stay in style. It turns what could be a rushed departure into a calming, comfortable experience.

Location & Parking – Stress-Free Access

Ascot House Apartments is conveniently located just off the A1, south of Peterborough, making it an excellent base for anyone heading to the Burghley estate. “FREE Parking , Suitable for cars, vans, horse trailers and horse boxes”.

Guests highlight the free, ample and easily accessible parking as one of the major conveniences.

For you, arriving in a truck, horse-box or with multiple vehicles and equipment, the car-park aspect is crucial. It means you don’t have to struggle with on-street parking or high hotel charges. You can load/unload near your apartment, park your vehicle securely for the duration of the stay, and come and go freely without worrying about finding a space each day.

Comfort, Convenience and Value for Groups

Whether you’re a competitor with support crew, a family with children or a group of friends attending together, a two-bedroom serviced apartment makes economic and practical sense. Splitting one apartment between four or five people often works out cheaper than booking two separate hotel rooms. Moreover, you gain communal living space, kitchen use, and the freedom to choose mealtimes and breaks around your schedule rather than adhering to hotel service hours.

Reviews of Ascot House Apartments consistently highlight their

“spacious and inviting accommodation… well-equipped kitchens” and the sense of staying in a “home from home” rather than just a room.

The 24-hour reception, on-site laundry facilities and free WiFi add to the practical benefits of the stay.

Put Simply – Why Choose the Serviced Apartment over a Standard Hotel Room?

• Space to breathe: Two bedrooms + lounge + kitchen = more flexibility and comfort for your party.
• Freedom to self-cater: Kitchen allows you to eat when you like, store your own food, and cater for dietary requirements.
• Separate zones: Some can rest while others are up early, without disturbing each other.
• Easy parking: Free, generous parking at Ascot House means minimise transport/logistics stress.
• Great location: Just off the A1 near Peterborough, convenient for travel to the Burghley site.
• Value for money for groups: One apartment often works better and cheaper than two hotel rooms, plus added amenities.
• Stay length flexibility: Arrive early, stay after the event, soak up the experience at leisure rather than rushing in and out.

Practical Tips for Your Stay

• Book well in advance, especially for the Burghley weekend, as local accommodation fills quickly.
• Consider arriving a day early and staying a day after the event to decompress, your apartment makes that easy.
• Use the kitchen for pre-event breakfasts, post-event dinners, or even simple pizza nights rather than relying solely on restaurants.
• If you are transporting equipment or horse-boxes, confirm parking dimensions and access with the hotel ahead of time.
• Use the lounge area as your event command-centre: lay out maps, check schedules, review the day over a drink in the evening.
• Make use of the free WiFi and lounge to review competition footage or plan the next day’s schedule.
• Pack less since you have kitchen and lounge you’ll likely feel more comfortable, so bring layers, boots, competition kit and use that extra space for storage rather than leaving it piled up in a single hotel room.
